beIN Sports Espanol Quick Pick

Fernando Montiel vs. Sergio Puente: This Saturday will mark one of the busiest nights of boxing in some time.  November 8th will be laced with four different fight cards with the highest profile fight of the night being on HBO.  But don't worry boxing fans even if you don't have HBO there will be fights you can enjoy.  One of those fights will be on beIN Sports Espanol which has aired many exciting fights this year.  Saturday's bout will be between experienced veteran Fernando Montiel (54-4-2, 39 KO) and the young, relatively unknown Sergio Puente (15-0, 6 KO) and is scheduled to go 10 rounds in the junior lightweight division.  Montiel has been fighting professionally since 1996 while Puente only turned pro five years ago.  Another point to be made is that Montiel has been in the ring with top fighters such as Nonito Donaire, Victor Terrazas, and Jhonny Gonzalez while Puente has no notable wins on his resume.  Montiel is a pretty patient orthodox boxer puncher who likes to counter his opponents.  His jab is solid but it's his left hook and right hand that do the real damage.  The hand speed for Montiel is solid and he throws a nice short left hook the the body along with an impressive uppercut.  He also likes to bring a heavy right hand upstairs and he always has a nice idea of what he wants to do in the ring.  Defensively Montiel isn't great but he does have a good chin and his only knockout came against Donaire when the Filipino fighter was still at the top of the sport.  As for Puente who is also an orthodox fighter but doesn't have the same type of power that Montiel does.  Puente is very awkward because he will often square up to opponents but he can also fight in an orthodox or southpaw stance.  His jab is better as a southpaw but he has more success as an orthodox fighter because he has a quick left hook and a very nice straight right hand.  While Puente may be a solid fighter he does spend a little too much time on the ropes and his inexperience will show against the veteran Montiel which will allow Montiel to win this fight by the way of unanimous decision.
