Friday Night Fights Quick Pick

Willie Nelson vs. Luis Grajeda: This week on Friday Night Fights there will be two junior middleweights in action.  Quality prospect Willie Nelson (22-1-1, 13 KO) will be taking on Luis Grajeda (17-2-2, 13 KO) in 10 round bout.  Hopefully for Nelson this will be his last fight against a relatively unknown fighter and he will step up his level of competition soon.  At 27 years old it is time for Nelson to impress for one last time on ESPN2 and then move up to bigger fights on subscription cable and stay there.  Nelson is a tall orthodox fighter with very good reach which he shows off with his high level jab and straight right hand.  Nelson also goes to the body pretty well but he fights much better from the outside.  When the action moves to the pocket Nelson's punches tend to get smothered because his arms are so long.  Throughout his career Nelson has look good but it is still unsure if he will ever be great.  Friday night won't be the night to find out if Nelson can be great because his opponent Grajeda probably won't give him the toughest test.  Grajeda has long fought average at best fighters with his only real step up being a loss to Jermell Charlo.  Grajeda is a southpaw with good power in his left hook but he is extremely wild.  Grajeda is the type of fighter who is ultra aggressive and goes in for the kill but his punches come in wide and he often leaps in.  Because Nelson is the better boxer of the two he should be able to keep Grajeda at the end of his jab and straight right hand and win this fight fairly easily by the way of unanimous decision.
