Friday Night Fights Quick Pick

Redkach looks to keep his perfect record intact
Ivan Redkach vs. Sergey Gulyakevich: ESPN2's Friday Night Fights has had their fair share of top prospect appear on their cards.  This weeks edition will be no different when the highly touted Ivan Redkach (16-0, 13 KO) will face off against veteran Sergey Gulyakevich (41-2, 17 KO) in a 10 round lightweight bout.  Redkach is a talented southpaw with a tremendous amount of power.  He has a nice short left hand but his heaviest punch comes from his right hook which he does most of his damage with.  Although Redkach has talent he is still raw and is still a few fights away from a real step up in competition.  His opponent on Friday night is a veteran but not one who will give Redkach a real tough test.  Gulyakevich has been fighting as a pro since 2003 but the high point of his career was back in 2007 and 2008 when he won and then defended an EBU super featherweight title.  In 2009 Gulyakevich fought for a WBC super featherweight title but lost the fight and his career hasn't really been the same since.  From 2009 to now he has not been in any 10 or 12 rounds fights and his opponents have been horrendous.  Gulyakevich is an orthodox fighter with a decent jab that he uses to walk down opponents and land his straight right hand.  This should be a look good fight for Redkach especially since Gulyakevich has slow hands and not much power.  Along with that when he throws punches he tends to get wild and open up which could give Redkach a good opportunity to score a knockout.  Gulyakevich hasn't lost since 2009 but his opponents were terrible, which is also probably why he has never been knocked out.  I expect Redkach to look very sharp in this fight and dominate Gulyakevich on his way to a 4th round stoppage.
