Rustam Nugaev vs. Marvin Quintero: If you're a big time boxing fan who loves a good action fight don't miss this weeks edition of Friday Night Fights on ESPN2. The main event promises to be an aggressive slugfest between Rustam Nugaev (26-6-1, 16 KO) and Marvin Quintero (25-4, 21 KO) as they battle for 10 rounds in the in the lightweight division. Nugaev should be well known to fans of Friday Night Fights, especially for his upset win over Jonathan Maicelo in April of 2013. Nugaev is an agressive fighter who likes to get on the inside and sit down on his punches. He works the body very well and usually follows up a double jab upstairs with a right hand to the body. Nugaev doesn't have good defense and leaves himself open for the counter attack when he throws crooked punches but he has a very good chin and in six losses has never been knocked out. Quintero's chin isn't up to par compared to Nugaev's. In Quintero's four losses three of them have been by stoppage. His chin doesn't get checked as often as Nugaev's though because his fighting style isn't as reckless. Quintero prefers to keep fights on the outside where he can really extend his punches and stay out of danger. Quintero may be a little rusty early in this fight because he didn't fight at all in 2013 and hasn't been in the ring since he lost to Miguel Vazquez via split decision in October of 2012. Not including that loss to Vazquez, Quintero had been on a nice run over his past six fights going 5-1 with 5 stoppages while Nugaev has gone 5-0 with 4 knockouts in his last five bouts. One common opponent for both fighters is Daniel Attah who Nugaev beat via knockout in the 4th round of their 2013 fight. Attah was more successful against Quintero and knocked him out in the 2nd round of their 2010 bout. Quintero may have the better power in this fight and his boxing skills may be sharper but his chin should play a huge role in this fight. I expect Nugaev to be able to make this fight more of a brawl than Quintero would like and expose his weak chin. I'm predicting Nugaev to win this fight by the way of 6th round knockout.
