Friday Night Fights Quick Pick

Norberto Gonzalez vs. Roberto Garcia: Last weeks Friday Night Fights main event was a complete blowout with Blake Caparello boxing circles around Elvir Muriqi and not taking much, if any, punishment in return.  This weeks main event should be much different because the action will be front and center.  The two fighters who will be going head to head are Norberto Gonzalez (20-2, 13 KO) and Roberto Garcia (33-3, 22 KO) in a scheduled 10 round bout in the middleweight division.  It's true that styles make fights and that's why this fight should be so electric.  Both fighters have very good chins and neither has one punch knockout power which means there will be a lot of big punches traded and both men should be able to stand up to the punishment.  The more polished fighter is Garcia, his defense isn't great but it is miles ahead of Gonzalez's.  Also Garcia has faced a better level of competition most notably when he took on Antonio Margarito.  One common fight between the two fighters is Atwone Smith who Garcia beat unanimous decision and Gonzalez lost to via unanimous decision which speaks volumes about how this fight should go.  Garcia's best weapon is his very short right hand that he always has cocked and ready to throw.  That right hand should find a place to land because Gonzalez is terrible defensively.  He fights with his hands low and when he throws combinations he leaves himself wide open to be countered.  The one thing Gonzalez has over Garcia is hand speed so he should be able to land some of those combinations before he takes a Garcia right hand in return.  Unfortunately Gonzalez won't be able to keep Garcia off of him long enough to win this fight.  Garcia is the better defensive fighter and has heavier hands both of which will allow him to win this very entertaining fight via unanimous decision.
