Unimas Quick Pick

Juan Diaz vs. Adailton De Jesus: This Saturday night on the Spanish language television network Unimas, former lightweight titlist Juan Diaz (36-4, 18 KO) will continue his comeback from retirement in a 10 round bout against Adailton De Jesus (30-7, 24 KO).  Diaz's last fight came against Pipino Cuevas Jr., a fighter who proposed no threat to Diaz.  This time around will be much different.  Diaz will be taking a step up in competition by taking on a fighter in De Jesus who has tremendous power for the lightweight division.  This fight could be tailored made for the aggressive Diaz, or it could be a hige mistake.  As every big time boxing fan remembers, Diaz was an all action fighter who loved to trade punches at close quarters.  If you don't remember how exciting Diaz was in his prime do yourself a favor and go watch his first fight against Juan Manuel Marquez.  A fighter like De Jesus with his high knockout percentage will also come to fight which should make for an exciting night.  Diaz could pick De Jesus apart if he comes in overly aggressive and just looks for the knockout.  But Diaz could also be in for a long night of punishment if he chooses to sit down on his punches and do battle inside.  Diaz should look to make an exciting fight without taking too much punishment.  I expect Diaz to fight in spurts, trading inside or against the ropes for stretches and then sticking and moving once he has the round in the bag.  Diaz should get the win by the way of 9th round stoppage.
