Friday Night Fights Quick Pick

Hank Lundy vs. Olusegun Ajose: The fight that will headline this week's edition of Friday Night Fights should be a very fan friendly one.  It features "Hammering" Hank Lundy (22-3-1, 11 KO) fighting against Ajose Olusegun (31-1, 14 KO).  Both of these men are solid fighters who always bring the action, which is probably why they don't have better records or bigger fights.  They fight hard but leave themselves open to a lot of punishment, it's great for the fans watching but not so great for the career of either fighter.  This fight will be a 10 round junior welterweight battle that probably won't go the distance.  Lundy is coming off back-to-back losses, a majority decision against Reymundo Beltran and a unanimous decision against Viktor Postol in a close fight that was in Postol homeland of Ukraine.  Lundy likes to fight with his hands low and keep his opponent at a safe distance with a strong jab that he snaps fiercely into the face of anyone walking in.  He has very fast hands and good power but he throws wide punches that make him vulnerable to counter shots.  Lundy's defense is basically just his jab which he uses to keep his distance.  Besides his jab Lundy doesn't really worry about defense.  Ajose is of the same mold.  He is not a defensive minded fighter and also at times keeps his hands very low, which is why he was knocked out by Lucas Matthysse, his only name opponent to date.  But he has solid power and is very athletic.  A knock against Ajose is that he is very easy to hit especially to the head which he rarely moves.  Neither of these fighters will ever crack the top 10 P4P list or come anywhere close but that's what makes them so exciting to watch.  Because of their deficiencies defensively they always make exciting all action fights that brings the fans to their feet.  This fight should see big punch after big punch and most of them should land.  While it lasts it will be very fun.  I predict that Lundy will get a win via majority decision in a close action fight that might see both fighters hit the deck.
