Jonathan Maicelo vs. Rustam Nugaev: This Friday brings yet another intriguing fight to ESPN. It will showcase Jonathan Maicelo, who in his home country of Peru, is a superstar already, against tough Russian Rustam Nugaev. Whenever a Russian steps into the ring you know one thing, he is tough as nails. Maicelo is more raw than his counterpart but his toughness can't be questioned. After 8 professional fights, Maicelo briefly left boxing to fight MMA, won a title in Peru, then switched back to boxing. Maicelo is now 19-0 with 11 knockouts and if he preforms well, could be on his way to super stardom in America. This will be Maicelo's first ever 12 round fight, and will be for a vacant lightweight title. Nugaev has much more ring experience and has even fought for a title before, although he lost that fight, the experience gained should come in handy. His record is 22-6-1 with 12 knockouts. Both men will be trying to gain a foothold in America in the lightweight division, a division that is very weak at the moment, and ripe for the taking. This should be a very good fight, one that Maicelo wins via unanimous decision.
