Middleweight champion Sergio Martinez is once again on the shelf. Martinez who won a very close fight against Martin Murray in his home country of Argentina didn't make it out unscathed. He suffered another injury to his recently repaired right knee, a broken left hand, and a very deep cut just above his left eye. Most big time boxing fans remember Martinez badly hurting that same knee in the 12th round of his fight against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. This time the injury should take more time to heal, and Martinez's promoter Lou DiBella has said that Martinez will not fight again in 2013. This puts a fall rematch with Chavez Jr. out of the question, and also calls into question how much longer Martinez can be an elite fighter.
