Friday Night Fights Quick Pick

Lamont Peterson vs. Kendall Holt: This is going to be a very interesting fight.  Both fighters are very similar in height, reach, age, and even knockout percentage.  In the past it might have been easy to pick Lamont Peterson, but that was coming off a win over Amir Khan which sent Peterson to the top of the rankings in the junior welterweight division.  That was also before Peterson was caught using PED's and suspended.  That fight came all the way back in December of 2011.  On the other hand since 2007 Holt has a record of 3-1 with 3 knockouts.  Holt's two biggest fights have come against Tim Bradley and Danny Garcia, which both resulted in losses.  Although the fight with Garcia was a split decision loss in a great fight.  The difference between the two fighters is their motors.  Peterson is known as a boxer who can go 12 rounds with ease, while Holt is more of a pressure puncher who fades later in fights and has been knocked out three times.  Peterson is the better fighter, but just how much of his talent was aided by PED's?  Also Peterson has been inactive for 14 months, and it never bodes well for a fighter when his first time back in the ring comes against a pressure puncher.  His confidence also might be diminished now that he has been exposed as a cheater.  For those reasons I am picking Holt to get the 11th round knockout.
