Rigo Keeps on Rolling

Guillermo Rigondeaux vs. Robert Marroquin

Another major pay-per-view fight and another undercard appearance for Guillermo Rigondeaux.  The 31 year old former Cuban gold medalist took on a young, hungry Robert Marroquin.  "Rigo" as he is known around the sport came into the fight with a record of 10-0 with 8 KO's.  Rigo wasn't only looking for his 11th victory but also an impressive performance to further his status as an elite fighter in the United States.  In the 3rd round Rigo was badly hurt and seemed as if he could hit the canvass at any moment, luckily he recovered quickly enough to dominate Marroquin the rest of the fight, including two knockdowns.  Although Rigo looked good he couldn't close the show in the way he would have liked, a thorough KO victory.  Instead Rigo was forced to settle for a unanimous decision victory.  He continues to rise through the ranks of boxing's best but doesn't seem to have a large fan base...yet.  Look for Rigo to have a big name fight very, very soon.
